23RAINYDAYS
* 23RAINYDAYS
Live Music
Rockville, MD, United States
Home page:http://www.myspace.com/23rainydays
Performing:06/06/2008 - 11:00pm

There is a wry humor that is evident throughout the band’s unofficial mission statement "23RAINYDAYS writes music that we hope will end up in John Hughes’ films when John Hughes makes a triumphant return to Hollywood... We write music that kids can relate to... well... mainly kids in black." They joke about a narrow genre that belies the true universal appeal of their music. On the timeline, 23RAINYDAYS references the classic new wave hooks and the most modern of the nu new wave, while grasping the pure rock in between.

302Acid
* 302Acid
Live Music

Home page:http://www.302acid.com/
Performing:06/13/2008 - 11:00pm

302acid vs. Optical grooves-
live audio/video improvisation
"If the name 302 Acid suggests an unhealthy interest in the sound of a certain legendary Roland bass station, then forget you ever heard it.
As it appears on this their debut album, there’s nothing minimalist or retro about the music of this Washington DC trio. Even Calls is an almost continuous swathe of densely arranged sound, multi layered and amniotically appealing. "
-Chris Sharp, The Wire

Optical Grooves has worked on videos with cutting edge groups such as Yeast Productions, Guerrilla News Network and Big Noise Films, to produce documentaries including Not My President, DC 9-02, Not in Our Name, IMC News Reels, and Praha Rebel Colours, as well as 302 Acid's 2003 ep release, Alanthus Altissima.

Greenbelt, MD
Home page:http://www.theablebirds.com
Email:andre@theablebirds.com
Performing:05/10/2008 - 5:00pm

The Able Birds are trying to break your heart.

Soft, sad songs by a DC/MD-based quartet, sounding something like Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Nick Drake, and a tobacco barn succumbing in an October field.

The Adrian Outfit
* The Adrian Outfit
Live Music
Washington, DC
Home page:http://www.myspace.com/adriankband
Performing:05/10/2008 - 9:00pm

Brand-spanking new DC-acclaimed singer/songwriter Adrian Krygowski started abusing the acoustic guitar back in early 2003. Influences from rock, jazz and folk music, Adrian’s unique percussive sound transcends the all-too-popular 2000’s sound and tunes ears from accross the nation.
Self-Proclaimed Washington local folktronica-pop artist Adrian Krygowski, or better known as "The Adrian Outfit," seems to know how to capture the essence of the new live-and-well DC music scene. The Minneapolis-native songwriter has been sharing the stage with local-knowns Whiz Bang Three, Star FK Radium, Joe Shade, Michael Yugo, Malonius, and the sporadic-likes of of Sean Redmond, David Newbould, Jon Check, Haley Rossow and Damien Rice.

"Dont ever stop! The most interesting songwriter I’ve recorded this year!"
~Rod Bell, Below Ground Studios (St Paul MN)

"Voice of Bob Dylan, guitar of John Mayer."
~Phil "The Sound Guy", Spice of Life, London UK

AlonA Band
* AlonA Band
Live Music
Washington, DC, USA
Home page:http://www.alonamusic.com
Performing:05/10/2008 - 4:00pm, 05/23/2008 - 10:00pm

The emotional core of AlonA can be heard on the captivating six-track debut EP MAELSTROM, which navigates an intense, musical minefield through life’s most complex emotions including love, rage and revenge.

AlonA performs frequently in the DC/Maryland area, sometimes with the full band but just as often with Candice accompanied only by her guitarist. “I love to get more intimate with the microphone in ways you can’t do with a full band,” she explains. “I’d compare it to when Tori Amos performs live without a band and her vocal delivery takes on a dimension where it’s more about delivering the mood and the lyrics. I think it’s easier to connect that way, because some of the intimacy is lost with a full band.” Clearly Candice AlonA has barely begun to plum the depths of her potential as a vocalist, songwriter, musician and recording artist.

Avant-garage performers Alzo Bosormeinyi & The Acid Achievers put the funk into "The World's Most Dysfunctional Rock Band". Since the group's inception in 1986, chaos and sweet noise have reigned supreme. With group size ranging anywhere from 4 - 8 people and musical abilities covering the spectrum from classically-trained to inscrutable, no one is quite sure what to expect at an Alzo performance, least of all the band themsleves!

A little girl with a big voice, Flo Anito's songs are quirky, smart, and honest. Her jazzy pop songs draw comparisons to Fiona Apple and Nellie McKay but her voice is all her own.
