I grew up to the sounds of swing, jazz and gospel and found myself on stage at a pretty young age and fell in love with singing before I can remember even talking.
Over the years I have been in theater, gospel choirs, and even a few struggling bands. I chased the music dream for a few years in my 20s and then one thing led to another and I found myself 10 years away from my last performance.
This will be my first time playing out in over over 10 years, and the first time it will be just me and a guitar. I'm alternating between fear and excitment, and I just hope that those that see me play enjoy the experience as much as I hope to.
Music has always been a great inspiration and joy in my life. And I'm taking this time to make it part of my life again.

My work is focused on shape, color, line, and, design. Scenes of everyday life, nature, and, my Cuban heritage are sources of inpiration. I apply universal themes to these subjects to promote a strong and personal emotional response from the viewer.
The great influences in my life have been Andy Warhol, Edouard Vuillard, Mary Cassatt, and John Singer Sargent.
I am a graphic artist for the Smithsonian, manage a figure study group also at the Smithsonian and am a member of The Hyattsville Community Artists Alliance. A native of Miami, Florida, I earned my BFA from the University of Miami and currently study under various local DC artists.

I am a self-taught artist practicing in the medium of tissue paper collage since the late sixties. I accompany my tissue paper,at times with acrylic paint and use wrapping paper, paper ribbon, and paper bags as well. I have been doing many pieces of late using only recycled paper- like the tissue from a box of shoes, and tissue discarded from birthday party or holiday gift bags.
Only in the last few years have I been promoting and selling my art. I have had several solo shows and belong to a local artist group HCAA) with ongoing shows in the community.
I like to portray humor, emotion, and my experiences through the years, in my work. I am very often inspired by musical lyrics, quotations, and situations around me; then feel compelled to express them.

Reginald Garrett is a graduate of the LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and the Fashion Institute of Technology, both in New York City. He currently works as a Graphic Designer in the Springfield, Virginia area. Reginald is an active member of the Northern Virginia Artists League (NOVAL) and the Springfield Art Guild (SAG).
I work in oil and acrylic paint and occasionally watercolor. This is my second Artomatic showing. Last year was my first. This year I’ve chosen to present plein air works. My subjects are a mix of man-made elements surrounded by the beauty of nature. I find this subject both familiar and serene. In all of my work I strive to present a welcoming and non-toxic aura. I hope you find it pleasing.

I am very pleased to be showing my work for the very first time. Since childhood, when my father first scribbled onto a piece of paper and told me to transform it into something..art has been more than a passion to me..it is a way to alleviate the emotions in my head..a place to showcase the beauty that I see in simplicity and a picture to capture all the chaos.

The Girls Gotta Run Foundation raises money, in part through the sale of shoe inspired art by contributing artist members, to support Ethiopian girls who are training to be runners in order to stay in school, possibly become professional runners, or in any event, enhance their life opportunities.
GGRF currently supports the girls of Team Tesfa by providing four pairs of running shoes and two sets of uniforms per year, food ("calorie") money, and a coach's stipend. GGRF is also supporting a developing girls' track team in a more rural part of the country. We will provide additional support for the teams as they add members. Other programs and prospects are under consideration.
ALL labor to administer GGRF is volunteered, and most services are donated, so approximately 95% of our funds go directly to support the girls. Contributing artists donate at least 50% of the sale of their artworks. Many donate 100%.
Let us know if you would like to join us!
