| | | Light It Up | Place your order online now for artist lighting. The EPM crew will order two types of lighting units from Ikea this week. We will order a number of single lights at about $11 each and we’ll order a nice 5-light set at about $66. Volunteers will be available throughout installation to help you install your lights if necessary. | | | | Installation Update | | Installation has begun - please be respectful of the other artists around you. The EPM has arranged to have the wood partitions primed starting Friday and they all should be finished on Tuesday. There is no need for you to buy your own primer, and you might want to wait a few days before you start installation to make sure that your wall has been primed. And as a reminder, here are the guidelines from the Terms & Conditions: You may paint your PARTITION WALL any color you wish. You may NOT paint the floor, carpet, or walking surface in any way. You may NOT paint the ceiling or pillars in any way. If you have a space on one of the existing walls in the building, you may NOT paint it other than putting on another COAT of WHITE. You may not hang anything from the pipes, wires, or hangers in the ceiling, nor may you put anything directly on the glass windows. All artist materials MUST come through the loading dock and the freight elevator. NO supplies are permitted through the front lobby of 1200 First Street, NE. Failure to obey this rule may jeopardize your participation in Artomatic. | | | | Volunteer Opportunities | There will be a All Committee Information Session this weekend at the site on Saturday at 1pm. If you can not attend the meeting but would like to be a GM, please contact Stephanie Bonifant at volunteer@artomatic.org. | | | | Who Are You? | | Please update your profile in the Artist Catalog on the Artomatic website. Upload images of your work, post your Artist Statement, link to your website, even start a blog. Let the world know who you are! Galleries, press and art buyers have been known to browse the artist catalog, so it's a great idea to personalize your listing. | | | | Artist, Promote Thyself! (And us too) | Hopefully you picked up your packet of Artomatic postcards and fliers at Site Selection - please use these materials to promote yourself and Artomatic. Soon there will also be a limited number of 11X17 posters available, and we will be happy to hear from potential distributors who are willing to cajole proprietors to post that poster in prominent positions. Our next set of tools is to be found at http://www.artomatic.org/participate/logos. We are also considering other promotional events, flash mobs, sandwich board signs, etc. to create a buzz at area events and busy locations. We could use assistance and are open to your ideas -- especially if you can carry them out. (Anyone have the time and place to make an Artomatic float?) Stay tuned to artomatic.org for opportunities to help out. So, get out there, have fun and promote! | | | | Design on a Dime | We need furniture donations to fill the music halls and multiple lounges.
