Fri Jun 6 - 10:00pm-10:50pm The Opposite Sex are a darkwave/post-punk band from the burning capital that is Washington, D.C. Assembled in 2004 and inspired by the post-punk era's harder acts, the band has gained a reputation for its swelling intensity, tribal rhythms and bittersweet melodies. Their live performances are a charged exploration of theater and sound. Live Shows often include video paintings by Line Of Sight films. The band has a self-titled debut EP released in 2005, which was well-received by the post-punk and deathrock communities. Their first full-length release, "Violent Heartstrings", was released in 2007 and has received praise from reviewers such as preeminent dark rock critic and historian Mick Mercer. The EP and current release, "Violent Heartstrings," have received airplay several times on Rader Report, a show on XM Radio.
